The git version as of 10 minutes ago still has this problem, unfortunately.

(Incidentally, "git clone" does not get the file autogen.sh, and
neither the README nor the INSTALL mention that one wants to use
autoreconf.  Perhaps this is obvious to everyone in the world besides
me, but in case there are others, would it make sense to mention this
somewhere?)
