Don't worry about gnome-config, there are bigger issues like adding support for GTK+ version 2 in FvwmGtk. You don't need gnome-libs support. The only difference is whether you get core file dumped or the GNOME Bug Report dialog when FvwmGtk is crashed (if you use FvwmGtk at all), nothing more interesting then this.
