Alf,

The IP440 was end of lifed a couple of years ago. Nokia usually say that
they will continue to offer hardware and software support for 3 years, I
think the 440 has got about 8 or 9 months left of this.

That's the official line...

What will probably happen is the next release of IPSo won't work in a
440, the spec of the box is really old. So the life span will depend on
the status of IPSO. 3.7 is due for release very shortly to coincide with
the release of NG AI (FP4). It will be interesting to see what the
release notes say about supporting 440's because there is quite a lot of
added functionality in IPSO 3.7, clustering and stuff like that.

One other thing you could do is to install SecurePlatform onto the 440,
inside its an Intel box .... ;) see how that performs ...

hth

Subject: [FW-1] Expected life on a Nokia IP440 firewall

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone would have an estimate of what the life-span
is on a Nokia IP440 firewall? 4 years? 5 years?
