I saw this recently. I don't recall whether the CA daemon was actually
running or whether it had crashed, but I can inform you that a cpstop,
cpstart returned the firewall to a fully working state.

Subject: [FW-1] Troubles with CA on the Management Station

Hi,

our firewall (NG FP3 on Solaris 8) was running for about half a year without
any problems.
If I want to edit the firewall object in the SmartDashboard now, i get the
following message:
"Unable to contact Certificate Authority on the Management Station.
Please make sure the Certificate Authority daemon is running."

When i get this message the CA daemon is still running!

How can this problem be solved?

Any help would be appreciated

Wolfgang
