On question number 1....

Couldn't you use a Nokia Appliance with the new version of IPSO to
bridge between ports and have CheckPoint inspect the traffic?

I believe the new version of IPSO allows bridging.

1) No. It's a routing firewall and not a bridge firewall.
2) Well ... What about putting a "those to any in any drop" ?  I think
there is something to temporary blacklist someone, but can't remember
right now.
 3) Based on ressource. Much much much efficient to use an external
server.
4) You can send email/web/ftp to a virus checker. Based on ressource.
5) That's a firewall, not a NAS/RAS.
6) Minimal IDS functions supported. Check "SmartDefense".
7) Password of ?
