Rajveer,

Yes, you will need to have downtime on the firewall you are upgrading.
The beauty of HA is that this should be minimal due to the HA
environment. You should be able to take one of the boxes offline while
keeping the other box running. Once it is upgraded, I have seen the swap
more successful by taking the current firewall down (unplugging
interfaces), putting the newly upgraded firewall into production
(plugging in interfaces), and then checking to be sure traffic is
flowing properly. This should be a fairly quick turnaround (couple of
seconds), and after verifying everything is working, you can then
upgrade the other box, and put it back in the cluster.

Good luck,

Chris

Subject: [FW-1] Checkpoint Enterprise Installation Query
Importance: High

Hi All,

I am having two IP 330 boxes with 25 users license. I would be upgrading
it
to unlimited users (new product = Checkpoint Enterprise).

My queries are :

1) Do I need to reboot or have a downtime when I install the new
checkpoint s/w ? I cannot afford to have downtime or reboots since its
an HA
environment ?
2) Will CP enterprise(unlimited users) run on IP 330 - silly to ask
-
but just for confirmation ?

Please REPLY ASAP.

Regards,
Rajveer
