Well, I have one Windows 2000 management station and one enforcement module.
Both were on NG FP3 HF2 HFA313. I upgraded the management station directly
to NG AI R55 without any ill effects except for deciding to let the
installation program copy over the log files from the FP3 folders to the AI
folders. I didn't have enough disk space and I had to delete logs from the
FP3 folders after they were copied to the AI folder during the upograde. I
would suggest not letting the installation program copy the logs over. :-)

I let it run for a week without any ill effects at all. I could push policy,
view logs, everything worked fine. Don't forget that you have to bring any
remote SmartConsole installations up to AI R55 as well.

I then used SmartUpdate to take the enforcement module from FP3 HF2 HFA313
directly to AI R55. It took it about 20 minutes and all went fine. I didn't
mess with any licensing at all.

I am not using Check Point Express, though. Seems to me I recall there being
some licensing issue with Express.

Subject: [FW-1] Upgrading from NG FP3 to AI - NEW LICENSE...?
Date: Mon, 26 Jan 2004 20:38:31 -0500

I have 1 management station (Win 2000) and 8 fw
modules.

I am planning to upgrade the management station and
one module this weekend to AI R55, but my "vendor"
told me that I must change ALL my licenses...

1. Why I must change my licenses?
2.I this case because the other 7 modules are not AI
can I still push the policy?
