Hi!

We did the Update from 4.1 to NG with ugrade-export/-import.
I think it is the best chance to backup/restore the config when a fwstop/fwstart is
possible.
Anyway it is told as the easiest way to get the whole data( incl. SIC, etc.) in some
cp-trainings...

Betreff: [FW-1] save and restore policy and rules (Linux and NG FP3)

Hi,

I'm using FW1 NG FP3 with RH linux in single mode (no HA module, no
redundant hardware)
I have a second box with the same OS and i try to export the
rules, nat, hosts and groups from the first FW1 (licenced) to the second
FW1 (with an evaluation licence) to try to restore my FW1 from scratch
with just some configuration files.
I tried cp_merge and upgrade_export/import, the second one restore all
my original configuration but i'm not sure it's the better way... and th
e first one seems to restore partial config.

I want to save and restore rules, nat, hosts, groups.
How do you perform your saves ?
What is the good method to do this ?

Thanks
