I believe you can distribute the patches via SmartUpdate, however I have not tested this. I transfer the files to the modules and update them individually. For any of the updates I have installed, I have downloaded them directly from CheckPoint for Linux. Crossbeam did okay their use on the box, but it was not a "crossbeam specific" patch. The same was true for floodgate. I downloaded floodgate from CheckPoint and installed it on the blades. I do know that they did have a delay in R54 but that was due to a CheckPoint bug which would only allow you to utilize the cluster net on a specific network, and could not utilize a virtual interface in the Crossbeam appliance. Once R55 came out this was fixed and we proceeded with the update. Remember that the Crossbeam appliance at this time runs Linux as it's core OS, which helps with compatibility. Also lets you run a myriad of other applications, Snort, ISS RealSecure, WebSense, etc.
