Hi,

I have a Checkpoint NG (R55) in W2003 platform in production and I would like to
export all the rules in order to configure another machine.
Can I use the "Copy Policy Packege" in SmartDashboard to export the rules to another
machine? And where are the files located?

Thanks in advance,
Nuno

Hi,
to export the rules and CA, the easiest way is to use the tool
upgrade_export. Then, your whole config is in one tgz-file. You can find
this tool in $FWDIR\bin\upgrade_tools. Be aware, that there might be a
problem pointed out in http://www.fw-1.de/aerasec/ng/upgrade_export01.html.
If you need the rules only and not the CA, you should take
rulebases_5_0.fws and objects_5_0.C. The file with rules only don't help
too much because there are references to the objects file. If you have
existing objects on the other machine, you can merge the two object files.
Hope it helps,
best regards,
Matthias
