I have had a quick check of a few mrtg configs here and it looks like you need to
loose the
leading full stop on your target, to read :
Target[fwaccepts]:1.3.6.1.4.1.2620.1.1.4.0&1.3.6.1.4.1.2620.1.1.4.0:[EMAIL
PROTECTED]:260
cheers,
Craig

Subject: Re: [FW-1] MRTG Config
Thanks for the help everyone! I am making some progress.
First, some background....from my machine which has MRTG on it, I can
do an snmpwalk and an snmpget of appropriate OIDs. So the
communication is working.
But trying to run cfgmaker isn't working. Various errors but they all
say "WARNING: Skipping [EMAIL PROTECTED]: as no info could be
retrieved". The command I used was
perl cfgmaker [EMAIL PROTECTED] --snmp-options=:260 --global "WorkDir:
c:\wwwroot\mrtg" --output mrtg2.cfg
So I get a blank config file. Now forgetting that for a second, and
looking and building my own mrtg.cfg as Don suggests, I don't get too
much further. My file looks like this:
# FW-1 Accepted Packets (another way of doing it using explicit OID
Target[fwaccepts]:
.1.3.6.1.4.1.2620.1.1.4.0&.1.3.6.1.4.1.2620.1.1.4.0:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:260
SetEnv[fwaccepts]: MRTG_INT_IP="10.1.1.1" MRTG_INT_DESCR="fw-1 total Accepts"
Options[fwaccepts]: nopercent,noinfo,perminute,noo
Title[fwaccepts]: Number of Firewall-1 total Accepted Packets
MaxBytes[fwaccepts]: 100000
YLegend[fwaccepts]: FW-1 Accepts / min
ShortLegend[fwaccepts]: |
LegendI[fwaccepts]: packets
Legend1[fwaccepts]: FW-1 Accepted Packets
Legend3[fwaccepts]: Max FW-1 Accepted Packets
PageTop[fwaccepts]: <H1>Number of Firewall-1 Accepted Packets</H1
So when I run MRTG I get this error:
SNMP Error:

error status: noSuchName
index 3 (OID: 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.3.0)

But I can do an SNMP get of .1.3.6.1.4.1.2620.1.1.4.0.
Any ideas? THANKS!!
Shane
