Hi Curtis, Just a suggestion, but if your going to go to a *nix platform, the best choice would be to use SPLAT. I'm sure many others would agree. Unless of course you have a specific reason to use BSD. SPLAT is a trimmed down version of Linux that is hardened, and setup to work specifically with CP.
I made the switch from a Nokia/IPSO platform to splat, and haven't had one issue yet. The best part about it is you can use pretty much any x86 platform to run it. Here's a link to the verified hardware it runs on, but I have mine running on a DELL Dimension 340 with a couple extra NIC's. http://www.checkpoint.com/products/secureplatform/index.html I too am using a very simplistic FW, and it can be up and running with your first policy push in as little as about 20 mins. Good Luck! -Lyle -----Original Message----- From: Mailing list for discussion of Firewall-1 [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Moon, Curtis Sent: Thursday, October 14, 2004 8:13 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [FW-1] OpenBSD? Other major problems? http://www.openbsd.org/ thanks, Curtis Moon ================================================= To set vacation, Out-Of-Office, or away messages, send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] in the BODY of the email add: set fw-1-mailinglist nomail ================================================= To unsubscribe from this mailing list, please see the instructions at http://www.checkpoint.com/services/mailing.html ================================================= If you have any questions on how to change your subscription options, email [EMAIL PROTECTED] ================================================= ================================================= To set vacation, Out-Of-Office, or away messages, send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] in the BODY of the email add: set fw-1-mailinglist nomail ================================================= To unsubscribe from this mailing list, please see the instructions at http://www.checkpoint.com/services/mailing.html ================================================= If you have any questions on how to change your subscription options, email [EMAIL PROTECTED] =================================================
