We run Oracle for remote users through our NG machine with no problems. What platforms are you on? Everything in the logs look ok? If you are on Solaris snoop your interfaces on your FW and Oracle server to see where your delay might be. Look at top on your Oracle box to see if you have any unreasonable loads.
