Actually, you don't need to replace the IP440. I am running NG AI R55w on the IP440 with IPSO 3.8.1 build 028 (I know, R55w is NOT supported on IPSO 3.8.1). You just need to put add more memory into the IP440 and everything will be allright. My IP440 is an P-III 600Mhz box with 512MB of RAM.
You do not need an 3DES vpn acceleration card if you decide to go with AES-256. The Nokia IP350/IP380 has built-in 3DES vpn card but this card does not support AES. One thing I notice since going with AES is that I have a much lower load on both the CPU and memory usage on the firewall. That is what AES is designed for. The algorithm is much faster and much more efficient thatn 3DES. HTH.
