I am not sure if Checkpoint has fixed this in NG with AI R55 but it used to be that
SPLAT will have problems handling systems with more than 1GB of RAM. To fix this, you have to create a fwkern.conf file in $FWDIR/boot/modules directory and specify that your system has more than 1GB of RAM. Thas has fixed this memory "leak" or whatever memory problem you call it. If I can remember correctly, it is fixed in NG with AI but this option is "OFF" by default. To fix the problem, do the following: Create a file named fwkern.conf in $FWDIR/boot/modules/ (it may already exist - if so, keep the current contents and just add the new lines below). Add the following two lines to the file: fw_smem_use_alternate_malloc=1 fw_hmem_use_alternate_malloc=1 Then reboot the machine. Good luck! "K. H. Each enforcement module is a Dell PowerEdge 2650 with 2GB RAM and is running SPlat + NG R55 (HFA12). State synchronization has been enabled on the modules. We found that the memory consumption gradually increases (about 40-50MB more each day). Initially the memory consumption was only about 500MB and it became about 1.7GB after 1 month. Moreover, there were many hash kernel memory allocation failures when the memory consumption was over 1.2GB. Did anyone encounter the same problem as well? Thanks a lot. Regards, K.H.
