I did put the entry for reverse DNS entry (PTR records) against my pop3khi.engro.com, after this entry seems like the problem has now been resolved and mails are coming smoothly. I thought PTR record is only required for sending the mails and enable recipients to verify the sender (spam control), would appreciate if you could please confirm if this is required for both (sending & receiving) and why ? Thanking you once again for your support & time, Regards, Syed Abdul Hameed Systems Analyst Engro Chemical Pakistan Limited Ph# 5611060-9 Ext: 626 Mobile # 0300-9265980 ----- Forwarded by Syed Abdul Hameed/ECPLKHI/ENGRO on 05/26/2005 08:02 PM ----- Ray <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent by: Mailing list for To: [email protected] discussion of Firewall-1 cc: <[EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [FW-1] Delay response of Check Point KPOINT.COM> Firewall-1 Gateway for SMTP connections 05/26/2005 08:07 AM Please respond to Mailing list for discussion of Firewall-1 It took forever to come up to the banner for me when telnetting to it on port 25. http://www.dnsreport.com/tools/dnsreport.ch?domain=engro.com reports that you do not have a reverse DNS entry (PTR record) set up. This is bad news for a mail server. It also reports your 202.163.96.4 DNS server is not responding.
