SMTP connections

Dear Ray,

Truly appreciate the support you extended to me in reference with my
problem related to slow response for
my SMTP connections with Check Point gateway.

I did put the entry for reverse DNS entry (PTR records) against my
pop3khi.engro.com, after this entry seems like the problem has now been
resolved and mails are coming smoothly.

I thought PTR record is only required for sending the mails and enable
recipients to verify the sender (spam control), would appreciate if you
could please confirm if this is required for both (sending & receiving) and
why ?

Thanking you once again for your support & time,

Regards,

It took forever to come up to the banner for me when telnetting to it on
port 25.

http://www.dnsreport.com/tools/dnsreport.ch?domain=engro.com

reports that you do not have a reverse DNS entry (PTR record) set up. This
is bad news for a mail server. It also reports your 202.163.96.4 DNS server
is not responding.

FWIW,

Ray
