Subject: Re: [FW-1] SPLAT Backups

I suggest to all my clients getting a snapshot after a software
upgrade and using regularly the backup command on the management
server. However the backup command will not backup the log files. If
you have set up log management on the management server object's
properties you can define a script that will be run before deleting
old files. Alternatively you can create a cron job. These scripts can
take backups of the log files and possibly copying them to an internal
TFTP or SCP server.

Whether or not SPLAT supports local backups on tape drives, I do not
know. It is a matter of having drivers for tape streamers or not. If
so you can use the tar command on expert mode or via a script.
