I have a Checkpoint firewall running R54 with AI, build 289.
Recently users on my internal network started having problems sending emails with attachments that were .jar files, java container files. The email would start to send, then time out the connection to the email server, which is outside our network. My question has to do with the SmartDefense part of the firewall. On the smart defense tab, under Application Intelligence/Mail/Mail and Recipients, there is an option to Perform Agressive MIME stripping. After disabling this option, I'm able to send the .jar attachments. Does anyone know if this is the way it should work ? Or if there's a way to configure what MIME attachments it affects ? Any help and patience with me would be appreciated. I'm relatively new to Checkpoint, still trying to understand some parts of it.
Thanks
Bob Grabbe
