I'm running my cluster on a crossbeam box and have no complaints. You can
also build out additional applications such as snort, av, url filtering and
a host of best of breed products from the same chassis.

Subject: Re: [FW-1] Best CheckPoint on BladeFusion,Alteon,Crossbeam, etc?

here is my 2c on this issue:

Nokia: lousy platform. Support really sucks. Definitely finger-pointing
between Nokia and
Checkpoint when customers run into problem. It is NEVER a good idea to run
checkpoint
application software on top of an Operating System, IPSO in this case,
because you are
going to run into compability issue. I don't care if Nokia specifies Nokia
as an appliance,
it is still running IPSO with Checkpoint as application. I work for a
Service Provider and I
see this finger-pointing everyday between Nokia and Checkpoint.

Crossbeam: Same issue as Nokia.

Corrent: This is the best platform as far as I am concern because it runs
Checkpoint
SecurePlatform. The thing that I like about this is that if you do have
issues, you deal
directly with Checkpoint and there will be no finger-pointing from
Checkpoint to anyone
else because Checkpoint is responsible for the underlying OS, Redhat Linux
in this case,
as well.

As you may have already noticed, Checkpoint is famous for blaming the
problem on other
vendors. With SPLAT, checkpoint will have no choice but to help you fix the
problem.
That's another reason to stay from Nokia, Solaris, Crossbeam or Windows.

Choosing best platform is depend on your requirenments: stable, performance,
price, supporting, ... Here are my experience:
Nokia: secure, easy configure, stable, supporting, huge public knowledge
Crossbeam: good architecture, performance, supporting
Server base: i recommend to install SecurePlatform, compartible with Check
Point new feartures

Subject: [FW-1] Best CheckPoint on BladeFusion,Alteon,Crossbeam, etc?

Hi,

Does anyone know of a review that analyses where CheckPoint runs best, on
platforms such as BladeFusion, Alteon, Crossbeam Systems, etc.?

thanks,

Emily
