 I can't copy-paste the article you mentioned below to this list, since it
is not a public article -- but i can paraphrase it for you:
 run "lspci" to see if splat sees your nic.
 Add your interface and driver name to the /etc/modules.conf file -
(example) alias eth2 e1000
 I just installed (yesterday 9/21/2005) an Intel quad-port 10/100/1000
64-bit copper PCI NIC into a Dell PE 1650 running R60, and it worked fine.
Here is the relevent output of the my /etc/modules.conf file:
 alias eth3 e1000.4.6.11
alias eth5 e1000.4.6.11
alias eth4 e1000.4.6.11
alias eth6 e1000.4.6.11
