We're having many debian installations (3.0 and 3.1) on esx too, some have been running there for > two years. So far we've had no crashes. As Ubuntu is gaining more and more market share I guess we will see support for that before debian and they are closely related. Have not tried Ubuntu in a vm yet though. As a side note to this it's kind of strange that HP are running debian servers internally while they officially support only Redhat and Suse on their servers: http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/linux/hpLinuxcert.html But it seems that you can pay to get some support on debian as well: http://h20219.www2.hp.com/services/cache/76815-0-0-225-121.html I don't know what CP did to the kernel sources, but it appears that if you are able to get hold of them you can't just compile them as you usually would do: http://lists.virus.org/fw1-0311/msg00054.html But if we can find the relevant headers it might be enough to get vmware tools compiled and running: http://oldfaq.phoneboy.com/gurus/200206/msg00124.html Or maybe not. Google doesn't yell any useful results for "2.4.9-42" :( Lars > > > So here is the conclusion: how to contact CheckPoint to get > the kernel > sources ??
