Looking at http://www.fw-1.de/aerasec/ng/ports-ng.html the logging
module listens on TCP 257.
Possibly anouter syslog-server is already running on that machine?

Don't know if you configure the checkpoint to use another port for
logging. But that won't solve you problem.
