Hi cisco4ng,

My ex staff did using "backup" command and the hardware was different. Thanks
for your suggestion as we also suspect the backup file was incompatabile.

We had already rebuilt the firewall from scratch and would took up your
suggestion to use cpsnapshot.

  Thank you.

I am not a guru on backing up firewall but how do you backup the firewall?
Are you using "backup" or "cpsnapshot"? There is a big difference between
those two? I don't recall exactly what "backup" really does; however,
"cpsnapshot"
actually backups both the OS and checkpoint configuration so that you can
restore it on an exactly hardware in case your current system crashes.

bad or you're restoring it on a different machine than the previous one. In
the future,
go with cpsnapshot, imho.

        Hi guys,

My SPLAT machine (running on R55 platform) recently suffered a faulty
motherboard crash and thus, replaced with a new machine. And due to management
decision, also made use of this opportunity to upgrade to NGX platform.

My ex staff had backup the current configuration to a .tgz format and
when I use restore (via TFTP server) command on the NGX platfrom, the transfer
had done but there was a error message. "Cannot complete the progress due to
package compression errors."

What does it imply? The backup was improperly done?

Another question, let say I had backup the configuration within local
SPLAT platform. How could I export the configuration via TFTP?

        Thank you.
