Hi Mark,

No, we never found a solution to it. But I've gotten hold of the CP R55
kernel source and will at some time attempt to compile the Intel driver
v6.x something, which is supposed to support the PCI-E type intel cards.

We even tried the NGX version, but that did not detect the PCI-E card
either. Perhaps one of the latest HFAs will.. Unfortunatly, the server
is on the other side of the globe, so it is diffucult to test on. ;-)

If I get the intel card working, I can drop you a note.

Thomas

Subject: Re: [FW-1] FW: NICs for PCI Express on SPLAT R55

Hello Thomas

Did you ever find a solution to this problem?

I'm in the exact same situation - Dell Poweredge 850, a riser with 1 PCI
slot (SCSI controller in this case, no RAID) and 1 PCI-express slot
(Intel 1000MT dual port NIC).

I thought I'd be safe picking the NIC right off Checkpoint's supported
hardware list, but there you go...

Thanks
Mark

Subject: [FW-1] FW: NICs for PCI Express on SPLAT R55

Does anyone know if there are any (preferrably Dual port) NICs supported
on SecurePlatform R55 when using a PCI Express bus? I'm having a bit of
a hard time finding any info on this and we're stuck with an
implementation on a Dell PowerEdge 850, with 1 PCI and 1 PCI Express
slot. The PCI slot is used by the RAID controller, so we need to get a
PCI Express ethernet card.

The server was delivered with an Intel PCI-E card, but from what I can
see, it required a v6.x of the e1000 driver.

Best regards,
