Hi Mark,

It's pretty much a given that eventually an HFA or something else is going to cause the system to figure out that there are too many users in the group for your license count and it's going to stop allowing remote access. At that point you'll have to remove some users to keep the number in the group at 100 max.

I would suggest going back to your reseller armed with the information you've gotten here and ask them to reconfirm their assertion that it is concurrent users, which they won't be able to do.

At that point, depending on how much they want your business, they should come to an accomodation with you about the remaining number of licenses you need to purchase. "accomodation" = "heavy discount" in my book.

FWIW, we have about 350 SecureClient users now so we bought a 500-pack because the resultant discount from going to 500 made it prety much a wash (three years ago, anyway).

Remember that you can buy licenses from any CP dealer, so if they won't offer you relief from their mistake, go elsewhere.

Good luck,

Ray

SmartView Status says:

Policy Server Details:

Status: OK
Description: Policy Server is up
Licensed Users: 100
Connected Users: 2

What would you do, if you are in my situation?

What does SmartView Status show for the enforcement module under Policy Server?

You're somewhat behind on HFA's, however I would think you're current enough that it should be enforcing the license limit.

Don't know. What version and HFA level are you on?

Yes, about 260 users uses the Policy Server and are in the same group plus 50 users, which are not using the policy server.

We have a license for only 100 VPN Users. Why did i get this message not much earlier, if you are right and the license is for total users and not for concurrent onses. I am setting up about 2 users a week at the moment.

Your reseller is wrong. SecureClient is licensed by total users, not concurrent users. Seems to me it counts the number of users in the group that is allowed to logon to the policy server. Do you have 260 in that group?

Now Connectra, their SSL VPN system, is licensed by concurrent users. The difference is probably that the SecureClient firewall protects the laptop whether it is connected or not.
