If you're using its external IP address for Hde NAT, yes, forward and
reverse. We had issues with business-to-business web sites about four years
ago where they rejected our traffic because the lack of a DNS name made them
suspicious.
If you're sending email servers are behind it using Hide NAT, yes, or you'll
get tagged as a possible spammer. You also cannot set an SPF record without
it.
Just make it a generic word. One of our subsdiaries uses
"surf.ourcompany.com"
