Agreed. I always do an upgrade_export first and a SmartCenter image second
before I apply patches.

I have a smartcenter on windows and did not have any problem with any
windows-patch up to now.
if your gateway is on windows (don't start discussions if this is a good
idea or not) you should check if this HF changes someting with the IP-stack
... and if it does -> try in the labs first.
