It does not take care of anything platform related, such as Hostname, IP
addresses or routes. But the high point on using upgrade_export is that you
can move from one platform to another with no issues (Nokia, SPLAT, Windows,
Solaris, Linux). So if you have a nice Nokia appliance and it dies, you can
bring an open server and run SPLAT on it with your configuration while a new
Nokia comes as replacement.

One important thing to take in count is having the same host name and IP
addressing on the new box before loading the export with upgrade_import. The
hostname is important to avoid getting your ICA corrupted (if you fail on
this, it becomes a mess resetting the ICA), the IP addressing because your
CP licenses are binded to an IP, if the IP does not match, licenses become
invalid and CP services wont't start.

Hope this info helps.

Does the upgrade export/upgrade import take care of the routing and

Open a command prompt window :

           > cd %FWDIR%\bin\upgrade_tools
           > upgrade_export SmartCenter.tgz

Install CP on your new server

     - transfer SmartCenter.tgz to the new box
     - goto upgrade_tools dir

     > upgrade_import SmartCenter.tgz
