The Edge User's guide says:

"Connect the serial console to your VPN-1 Edge appliance's serial port,
using
an RS-232 Null modem cable."

Also says:

"Your terminal emulation software must be set to 57600 bps, N-8-1."

So I guess you are at least close regarding the terminal emulation settings.
Are you sure about that cable? I don't think a Cisco console cable would
work but I have a serial cable that came with a Nokia appliance and using
that I have in fact being able to connect to an Edge with no prob.

Also remember that using the web interface you can change the setting for
the serial port to be either for console or dialup purposes and I'm
guessing that if you have is set for dialup it would just not respond to a
console connection attempt. Do you know how it is set right now?

Regards

If it works with modem then try a null modem cable or with Rx and Tx
reversed. You may have to adjust the speed as well.

Subject: [FW-1] Serial console on EDGE

Hi,

I have a problem establishing a serial connection to a EDGE. I tried
minicom
(LINUX) and hyperterm (Windows), two different serial cables (blue cisco
type) and two different EDGE boxes which are configured in a HA
configuration. Serial configuration is 57600, 8N1.

Same setup works with a modem and other components (9600, 8N1).

Anybody a idea why I am not able to connect to my EDGEs?

Thanks.
