Checkpoint #skI4457 describes (briefly) what these logs are. They are pointers to logs, chains and accounting records. I would not delete them. They are generally pretty small compared to actual log files, so why bother? You can always compress them (gzip) and move them somewhere else until you need them, which is what I do.
