Run upgrade_export on your current SmartCenter and after installing your new
Smart Center, run upgrade_import on it to get an exact copy of your config
on the new box. Just be sure the new box has the exact same hostname and IP
addresses.

The procedure is described on the Upgrade Guide PDF available for download
at the Check Point website.

As for the extra firewall module you would like to have as standby, you can
just install it and be use to enter the same activation key you have on your
production firewall module, if it fails, put the spare box, reset the SIC
and install the policy... that's it!

Hope this helps.

Hi List,
I have my CheckPoint NGX R60 Firewall running on Solaris 8 platform. My
SmartCenter Server & Enforcement module are running on different machines.
Now i want to setup standby systems for both SmartCenter & Enforcement
Module
so that in case some thing happens to the running systems, i can plug the
standby systems to my network. Now i would like to know what files &
directories need to be backed up from running systems, so that i can make
an
exact replica on standby systems. Since so much of database is sitting on
SmartCenter Server, i don't know exactly what to be backed up. Can you
please
suggest me step-by-step backup on running systems and
restoration on standby systems.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Sankar
