Hi.

The opensource alternative zebra is already included in SPLAT.
See under /etc/zebra and the startup file /etc/rc3.d/S14zebra

I use it myself for OSPF routing and it works fine. (version R55)

I don't know about how supported zebra is, but I can find case about
zebra on the Checkpoint support pages and it is mentioned in the release
notes for R55

It's kind of silly on their part to sell something comercial like gated 
when quagga is very good as an opensource alternative.
