Running a SmartCenter on Centos 5 is peanuts. A few backward
compatibility libraries will take care of that.

But the gateway needs to integrate into the kernel. And that will not
work with a fundamentaly different kernel. And from the last coffee
session we had with Check Point Q&A it was not even on their list.

So Check Point will for quite a while do some backports of drivers to
support the newer hardware with the older kernel.

Did you keep up with HFA's? SPLAT HFA's also fixes compatibility issues.
They are not always that clearly documented.
