[off-topic I know...]

Well, it is based on public-key signing of FROM addresses, and they
readily admit in the paper:

Unfortunately, no existing public-key-based message signing effort
    has widespread support... yet.

This is not exactly true. There is a widespread system called PGP
which has probably the widest support of any scheme, and it is still
considered "too hard" by 90% or more of mail users, so it is not
deployed deeply enough to stop spam. Just think, if everyone used PGP,
we would not have spam problems. But they don't, so we do. This is the
problem that any system runs into which depends on "everyone needs to
get registered in my system for this to work." They won't register, so
the system fails.

Not to mention that the most common method of sending spam today is from
hijacked machines. And if a user's machine has been hijacked,
presumably the hijacker can easily send mail using that machine owner's
credentials, so even a registration like this fails.

I am sorry to go an an off-topic rant, but I really grow weary of
schemes that claim to solve the spam problem.
