If you are using Dell or IBM, those servers use DRAC or RSA to remotely manage the box over Ethernet management ports that you can remotely mount an ISO and boot up the servers with SPLAT remotely instead of CD. If you use Sun X4100/X4200 platforms, they use ILOM to do the exact the same thing. You do not have to leave the chair for CD drive.
