As Eugeniu already wrote, use upgrade_export to backup the checkpoint
stuff on solaris.
This method allows you to backup all important checkpoint files from
your smartcenter, then restore it on another machine if needed. this is
described in the upgrade_guide you can download at checkpoint site.
if you wish to backup the whole machine, you'll have to use a solaris
backup method, ie commercial software or regular dump.
for the security gateways, IMHO it's much faster to reinstall from a
jumpstart server than restore a whole machine.
