Well, about clustering, this is not entirely true, Check Point appliances allow to have both Management and Gateway clustered with just two appliances. On any case, IMHO it is better to have a distributed environment even if you are managing just one gateway, it gives you a lot of freedom for maintenance tasks and a better tolerance to failures.
