I am experimenting with setting up a proxy server (Netscape iPlanet Web Proxy
3.6).
We are using FW-1 (4.1 SP2) on a Nokia 440 (IPSO 3.3) in combination with
TrendMicro Viruswall to scan SMTP (doing a great job).
Any tips or best practises would be very much appreciated on how to use a
proxyserver in combination with a firewall to scan, filter, cache, ... http,
https, ftp .
Viruswall server and proxy server are in private DMZ with legal IP addresses on
same FW interface.
Is it a good idea to let all http, ftp,..traffic be cached and scanned on proxy
or rather use CVP?
What about user authentication, will it still work? We now use user
authentication on FW rule to dis/allow HTTP.
This may all sound very straightforward but i am rather new to this subject.
