Hi,
I think I had faced the similar problem before and the solution is (or the point we' ve all missed is...);
If you want the FW management console to automatically alert you with e-mail, (especially when CPMAD alerts you & records an alert log, i.e. port scanning,etc.)
write that alert command to the POPUP ALERT COMMAND tab of the properties window within Firewall-1 rulebase.
Also, you can write down there any other action, i.e snmp_trap.
Log and Alert tab is activated for the rule(s), if, you explicitly define & install a rule that has an smtp_trap or e-mail process in the TRACK section of that rule.

From a DOS prompt on the NT mgmt station I tried entering:
sendmail -s Alert -t xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx [EMAIL PROTECTED]
and this just hung. Afterwards I appended "< alert.txt" to the end of the
above syntax and it worked, but when I add that complete syntax to the Log
and Alert tab of the properties window within Firewall-1 rulebase, it does
not work.
