Your default policy when the firewall is brought up is probably blocking the
DHCP answer from the cable modem. You may have to "fw unload localhost",
create a policy that allows the traffic, and push the policy to the
firewall. Then you may be able to get a DHCP address.

Subject: [FW1] FW install : IP config problem (help)

INTERNET-----cable---- Firewall-1 --- NETWORK1
             modem

Firewalled computer interface facing cable modem needs
dhcp assigned IP address.
Problem is that when Firewall is installed (with one
Network Interface configured as dhcp),
doing an ipconfig gives nothing. (normally via
ipconfig
command one gets a listing of the IP addresses for the
interfaces. But after firewall is installed all the
ip configuration is lost.
Uninstalling firewall, all is fine again.

what is the problem. Firewall-1 version 4.0
