Hi John, I just did a bit of a test on your mail server and it looks like it does relay:
220 dell.uriinc ESMTP Server (Microsoft Exchange Internet Mail Service 5.5.2650.21) ready 250 OK 250 OK - mail from <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 250 OK - Recipient <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 354 Send data. End with CRLF.CRLF 250 OK If your internet mail service is configured not to relay, it should say "relaying denied" when specifying the recipient. Here are a couple of articles that will help: http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q199/6/56.ASP http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q193/9/22.ASP but you may actually need relaying enabled if you are using pop3 or IMAP4 access from the Internet for users to send and receive mail. If so check out: http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q279/8/60.ASP Regards JP ----- Original Message ----- From: "John Tanouye" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Friday, October 26, 2001 2:41 AM Subject: Re: [FW-1] Spam blacklist...How to stop open relays at the firewa ll(FW-1 ) HELP!!!!!!!!! > I'm wondering if our mail servers are being exploited in the same way.
