Title: RE: [FW-1] Nokia IP330 Configuration questions

Hi Patrick:

We've deployed a number of IP330s, and have been really happy with them.

This may not help you out, as I have not worked with the T1/E1 adapter, but if I were in your shoes, I would use an external router that you can upgrade.  The IP330 only has one field-upgradeable slot, and I believe that is used for the encryption card.  A single T1 card will only allow 1.5mb of traffic.  If you're going to go to 3mbit, you either need a T3 card, or some way of aggregating the T1s, like IMA (cisco).  If you buy the T1/E1 adapter, I think it's permanently mounted on the motherboard, and it eats up 1 of the 3 allowed Ethernet slots.

Throuput on the IP330 is flawless up to 10mbit.  It's really a great little box.

Good luck on whatever you decide to do, hope I helped out.

Subject: [FW-1] Nokia IP330 Configuration questions

I am looking at the Nokia IP330
I have ordered the T1/E1 wan card and have questions about deployment.

Is the documentation shipping with the device adequate to install and
configure this card component?

If my company wants to upgrade the T1 circuit from 1.5 M to 3.0 M will this
card handle that?

Thanks for your time.
