I have recently upgraded from IPSO 3.3 to IPSO 3.4.1 on a Nokia VPN210 newimage -k -R -i /var/admin/ipso.tgz and during the upgrade the installation program found the 3.3 bootmanager and upgradeded the bootmanager. But when i rebooted it complains that
"The bootmanager is older than this version, you may need to upgrade using /etc/upgrade_bootmgr wd0 .... Haven't it upgraded the bootmanager?? I cannot find the nkvpnflash.bin binaries for the VPN200 family on Nokias site only for the IP300 series. Please help! Backup your files. 2. Backup your files again. 3. FTP new ipso and firewall code to /var/admin 4. perform newimage -i and install the ipso upgrade (bootmanager should be upgraded automatically) 5. reboot. 6. Perform newpkg and install your Checkpoint FireWall-1 SP5, reconfigure 7. Restore backup of Checkpoint files.... Done. As stated in the Hitchhikers Guide.... I've done two 440's and two 330's only one of the 330's was an actual upgrade whilst my others were "wipe and install" approach. The upgraded one went hassle free ... one of the 440's core-dumped on fwstop, the other had a "Connection Refused" problem when pushing policy. This would only occur after a firewall restart ... my solution? ... 'fw unload <module>' then 'fw fetch <mgmt>' ... for some reason this fixed the problem even though I had rebooted several times etc. and done the putkeys over and over again. Very strange. There is a hotfix (newer than on the CP site) that I advise you try and get hold of. Apparently this deals with the Core Dump issue and a memory leak in ahttpd when using security servers. Other than that all works ok! -----Original Message----- From: Robert Barentsen [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, December 05, 2001 7:10 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [fw1-wizards] Upgrading on IPSO and CheckPoint I am researching on upgrading to the latest IPSO 3.4 and CheckPoint 4.1 SP5. I read somewhere that it was not recommended. Having seen this, I'm wondering if I should at least upgrade one of the two or stay where I am?
