[FW-1] FTP APPE and APPEND commands don't work

I am experiencing problems performing an FTP appe or append command using checkpoint firewall 4.1 sp5 on nokia IPSO 3.4.1 running the FTP security server. I have included the appe and append commands into the ftp_allowed_cmds line of the objects.c and have even created a aftpd.conf file that includes only the "optimistic" line but I still can not append to a file. Any help is greatly appreciated.
