I have
a client that did the same thing, using Bellsouth's ADSL
implementation.
The
only way we could get this to work, seeing as Bellsouth would not allow a static
IP on the external IF of the FW, was to put a NAT PPPoE device (in this case a
Linksys cable/DSL router) in front of the FW, static NAT to a private IP, then
license the FW to that private address.
We
have to reboot the router approximately once every two weeks due to Bellsouth
forcing a reconnect. Usually works without any other hassles, but it's
REALLY kludgy...I would highly recommend that you tell
your client up front that ADSL is not a good solution for this kind of
connection, unless they can get a static IP from the DSL
provider.
Good
luck!

Subject: [FW-1] Checkpoint FW-1 and ADSLDoes anyone have any experience with FW-1 and ADSL.
I got a client which wants to connect a site via ADSL using Checkpoint as a FW. They're running RedHat 6.2 with ADSL but now they want to install FW-1 on it. Anyone know if it wil work?
TIA.
Greetz Vincent.
