The only documented cause of this would be running 4.1 SP5 WITHOUT the hotfix (can be obtained from Check Point customer download site - requires a login). Some have also reported this issue when running SP5+hotfix on one member of the pair and an older SP on the other member.

Subject: [FW-1] VRRP high-avail problem
Hi Guru's
I'm having a major problem with a pair of IP440s in failover mode with
VRRPmc - When ever i push a new policy, the primary wall at the time fails
and reboots. I am presently looking at a situation where as soon as the
primary comes back-up the secondary fails and reboots! (this doesn't happen
all the time, but is happening as i write this. I'm running IPSO 3.4.1
FCS-5, and FCS-10 though have seen the same problem with older IPSOs too.
does anyone have any ideas?
regards
rich
