Wade,

There is a syntax error in the release notes from Checkpoint that explains
how to modify Objects.C.

This is what I do whenever I need to add something to the rules in
Objects.C for stripping attachments. This has been working for me for
months now.

I am running V4.1 SP3 and the SMTP security server(s). I first stop FW-1
before I edit Objects.C. Also, sometimes I have a problem with the spooler
after I do this and I need to reboot the firewall. I just read something
about re-installing the rules. Maybe that is all I need to do! Anyway, a
reboot always fixes and problems after I edit Objects.C

Here is a copy of the syntax that I use.

:resourcesobj (resourcesobj
          : (inbound-mail-ghs
               :maxsize (30000)
               :allowed_chars ("8 bit")
               :av_setting (none)
               :av_server ()
               :color (black)
               :type (smtp)
               :comments ()
               :err_notify (true)
               :default_server (10.10.1.35)
               :error_server ()
               : (forbiddenfiles
                    : ("{*.exe,*.vbs,*.com,*.bat,*.lnk,*.pif,*.scr}")
               )
               : (match_from
                    : ("*@*")

Good Luck!

                    discussion of Firewall-1

I know this was discussed before and I tried to set it up but I ended up
striping ever attachment that came through the firewall instead of selected
attachments.
I would really like to disallow exe files from being sent through the
firewall. can someone in detail explain how to do this.

Thanks,

Wade Sellers
