Hi,

DES and 3DES are different encryption algorithms. 3DES is more
secure but also a bit more CPU offensive. If you have to choose
between them I'd suggest 3DES (DES is either 40bit or 56bit encryption\
and 3DES was something like 124? or so, don't remember the exact
value anymore)
