The issue is not so much the processor
performance, more the supported memory.
NG firewall really needs at least 128M of RAM. It
can run in 64M, but it is very sloooooowwwwwwww because IPSO ends up 'thrashing'
the hard disk with the virtual memory.
If you want both firewall and management CP
recommend 256M or more...
The easiest way to find what they have installed
if they can be powered up is to look at the boot sequence:

Resizing packet buffers: mbufs 15360 clusters 7680
releng 848
10.08.2001-201900
CPU: 267-MHz Pentium (586-class CPU)
real memory = 67108864 (64M
bytes) avail memory = 56934400 (54M bytes) ... If the unit is booted you can see the previous
boot sequence by looking at the dmesg.
Alternatively you can go into Voyager and look at
the first screen
Or from command line use iclid:
Asbestos[admin]# ipsctl
kern:maxmem kern:maxmem = 67108864
If you can't boot the box, then working out what it can support is much more complicated. Easiest way if you have a friend in Nokia Support is get the serial number and ask them what it was shipped with. Otherwise your down to opening the box!
IP110 are fixed at 64M
Older IP330 were fixed at 64M, newer one can support 128M and newest 256M.
IP400/IP410 are so old I wouldn't touch
them.
IP440 older ones were restricted to 128M. Newer
ones could support upto 384M, officially only supported 256M... same issue with
IP330.
IP650 older ones only support 256M
I hope this is of use.
