If it's a Windows client whose DNS settings (Windows properties, not Secure
Client) are set up to append a domain suffix, it may be resolving
EXCHANGE.yaddayadda.com rather than EXCHANGE. Of course, the ping output
should tell you this (it'll say something like 'pinging
EXCHANGE.yaddayadda.com' even though you typed 'ping EXCHANGE').

Bottom line is something to the effect that it may be trying DNS rather than
WINS first. Could be a client-side issue, could be a server-side issue
(DNS/WINS server, that is). But that's just a best guess.

Subject: [FW-1] NetBIOS server NAT'd through VPN

Using Secure Client with Hybrid IKE and am having a problem accessing only
one server on the internal network. I have the VPN client configured to use
the internal WINS server via the Dial-up adapter settings and everything
almost works. When I try to resolve the name of our Exchange server I
receive an external IP address (the one the server is statically NAT'd to.)

For example, if I 'ping FS01' it pings 192.168.1.1. If I 'ping EXCHANGE' it
pings the address which EXCHANGE is statically NAT'd to, not the internal
address.

I tried setting EXCHANGE via dnsinfo.C, but this does not seem to be working
(userc.C is not updated.)

Anyone else see this before? Any suggestions?

-Steve S.
